Hi everyone! As the cofounder of a
galgo rescue charity founded in 1999, I would like to ask you to please send an
email to express your opposition to galgos, podencos and in general all dogs
used for hunting to NOT be excluded in the new bill being created for the
protection of animals. So the bottom line is that they want hunting dogs to be
exempt of any protection. How outrageous is that? We are you to put your
opinion into an email.

To his Excellency Mr. Luis Planas Puchades
and those responsible for the Management
of Hunting Regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food,
This letter is to inform you of my disagreement and
opposition to measure 2.4.4 appearing in the National Strategy for Hunting
Management draft that your Ministry and yourself are carrying out, currently
open to public consultation.
Exercising my right of access to information on
environmental matters, and intending to influence the decisions that the
representative bodies of the State will adopt, I reiterate my opposition to
measure 2.4.4 (General recommendations concerning hunting dogs and rehalas), as
well as action 2.4.4.1 (Recognize the uniqueness of hunting dogs and rehalas)
based on the following arguments:
The dogs used for hunting and the dogs considered domestic
both belong to the canine species and have the same capacity for suffering and
the possibility of being a companion or domestic animal.
There are no scientific or other rationales for
differentiating between dogs based on their use. Many dogs that were used for
hunting become companion dogs after being abandoned or given away by the
hunter, without any of their characteristics changing, being, therefore, the
same animal, and having to be subject by logic and justice to the same level of
legal protection.
At present, there are dogs of breeds commonly used for
hunting that have never been used for hunting and have always lived in homes.
Therefore, we speak again of the same animal that must have the same rights.
For the above reasons, I request that no regulations be
drawn up that differentiate the status of protection and the rights of dogs
depending on their use or the place they inhabit.
Please send me the entry registration number of this email,
as a participant in this consultation exercising my right contemplated in
article 133 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, of the Common Administrative
Procedure of Public Administrations.
Best wishes,
